White Noise Chicago

Whoopi Goldberg and her fellow producers for the provocative new rock musical White Noise, officially announce casting for the Chicago premiere at The Royal George Theatre, 1641 North Halsted Street. Directed and choreographed by Broadway’s Sergio Trujillo, White Noise began rehearsals today for its eight-week limited run beginning on April 1, 2011 and official opening on Saturday, April 9, 2011.

White Noise is a provocative new rock musical that follows a pair of sisters who are discovered by a powerful record producer, and groomed into a well-packaged rock/pop band, which mixes irresistible harmonies with coded rhetoric into chart-blazing hits. Inspired by real life, White Noise fuses today’s headlines and blogs into a cautionary tale that challenges conventional notions of free speech, media and the power of pop culture.

Mackenzie Mauzy (next to normal, Guiding Light, The Bold and the Beautiful) as Eva, Emily Padgett (Rock of Ages, Grease, Legally Blonde) as Eden, Patrick Murney (The Abingdon Theater, Edinburgh Fringe Festival) as Duke and Eric Morris (Mama Mia!, Coram Boy, As The World Turns) as Jake lead the “White Noise” band. The “Bloodbrothas” rap duo is played by Wallace Smith (American Idiot, Hair, Lion King) as Dion and Rodney Hicks (The Scottsboro Boys, Rent, Jesus Christ Superstar) as Tyler. Also featured are John Hickok (Little Women, Aida) as Max, Luba Mason (How to Succeed…, Chicago) as Laurel and Michael Buchanan (Cry Baby, Urinetown at The Mercury Theatre) as Teal Waters. The cast of 21 also includes Joseph Anthony Byrd, Kelli Eileen LaValle, Tess Soltau, Ashley Adamek, Erin McGrath, John Arthur Greene, and Constantine Rousouli. The musicians featured in White Noise include Jesse Vargas (Musical Director, keyboard), Matt Hinkley (keyboard), Hannah Ford (drums), Ben Mason (bass) and guitarist TBA.

the Broadway-bound White Noise will receive a private industry reading on Friday, October 1, 2010. As BroadwayWorld has previously speculated, Whoopi Goldberg and Tom Leonardis have joined producers Holly Way and Jay Strommen with the intention of bringing the production to Broadway as early as next season. No official announcement has been made. Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys, Memphis, Next To Normal, Addams Family) directs.

The reading stars Marc Kudisch (9 to 5, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Assassins) Mackenzie Mauzy (A Tale of Two Cities), Emily Padgett (Rock of Ages, Grease, Legally Blonde), Patrick Murney, Patrick Heusinger (Next Fall, Fiddler on the Roof), Luba Mason (The Capeman, Jekyll & Hyde, How to Succeed…), Rodney Hicks (Scottsboro Boys, Rent), and Antwayn Hopper (Hair).

Looks like MacKenzie has a new role!

McKenzie Mauzy will play the blond, blue eyed, good Christian Bainbridge girl, Maggie Maloye. Mauzy has a list of credits including “Drop Dead Diva,” “CSI – Crime Scene Investigation,” “Law & Order,” and “The Bold & The Beautiful.”
Fishers of Men and MacKenzie

AWESOME review of MacKenzie, who filled in this last week in “Next to Normal”.

Last, but most certainly not least, Mackenzie Mauzy was an absolute gem as Natalie. It was the first time I had seen anyone other than Jenn Damiano in the role, and so I was a little unsure of what to expect. I thought it was going to be incredibly weird to see someone else in the role, but as it turns out, I was completely wrong. Ms. Mauzy embodied Natalie as if she had been playing the role for months instead of it being the third time she had actually gone on. She seemed to be very comfortable in the role, and whether that is a testament to her ability or to the fact that this cast meshes seamlessly together no matter who is playing what role, I can’t say. What I can say is that I loved her take on Natalie.
